Record tabs out, you may need to cover the 2 holes on the top edge to enable 'record' on your cassette recorder. You can use blu-tac or a piece of sticky tape.

The tape loaded inside the shells is music grade ferric tape however these are made from roll ends which are left over from loading longer tapes.

For example if we are making 100 x C60 tapes with a reel of tape there will always be some left over tape on the end of the reel which will not make 60 mins but maybe 10, 20 or 30 mins. We save all these reel ends until we have enough to make batches of C10 and C20 etc. And this way we are using up all the wasted stocks and can offer them cheaper. But they are exactly the same brand new tapes. There may however in the batch you buy contain grades of ferric tape which are slightly different but probably not noticeable as very similar. And there is also a very slight chance some recorded roll ends may have slipped into the batch but not supposed to and if we spot any it would be erased blank.
