BASF Branded storage box
Stores flat
These were designed and used by BASF and Maxell in the late 1980s for economical re-usable packaging for their audio cassette reels. They supplied pallets of full boxes which once used were unfolded and stored flat until there was enough to return them to BASF who then re-assembled them and filled with more reels. This sturdy packaging saved 1,000s of tonnes of waste polystyrene and polythene over the years until they stopped supplying tape and the ones we have here were never returned or collected.
We use them for storage boxes but have occasionally sent out orders packed inside one which is ideal. They can easily store over 100 cassette tapes in their library box. They measure approx 400x400x130mm
Please note that these are many years old and have been used and at one point stored outside, they have got dirty but we've cleaned one to photograph. Some have little drops of water inside the box because we've cleaned them (at some stage before they got mucky again!) with water and there's a couple of small holes perferating the plastic. The ones with a little water inside can be removed by shaking the box and tilting the angle to help the water find the hole to drip out, if it takes too long you can assist by piercing a couple more holes yourself. This does not reduce any function of the box or it's use.
