Reels of cassette tape are no longer £2 to £3 each. Recent large price increases bring a reel of cassette pancake cost us between £9 and £13 per reel depending on the type and it's so rare we no longer sell reels of tape unless the buyer is in a real need and would have to pay £17 to £20 for single reels.
Therefore we no longer scrap reels that collapse, it is way too expensive and precious a product to throw any collapsed reel away as in some cases it can be used.
When the temperature alters the status of a cassette pancake can alter and often, maybe for just a brief moment can become very loose instead of tightly backed on the hub. As it is hub bulk and has no outer protection as a reel to reel tape then if it's handled without enough care the tape can fall off the hub and we cannot use the tape on our cassette loaders.
So here we have a full reel of tape, fallen off the hub and all loose, gathered up as careful as possible and placed in a larger polystyrene box for re-use. Many tape enthusiasts have developed ways and systems to slowly make their own tapes. Using a cutter and splicing tape and perhaps a pencil or redundant cassette motor to load the tape into donor empty cassette shells. It can also be used for experimantal stuff and making endless loops, editing and adding tape to an existing cassette. There's many possible uses such as art projects and film props etc.
There's enough tape for at least 25 x C60 cassettes but remember there may be a few creased edges and the odd twist but handled carefully you should be able to re-use 75% of the tape
Please note, from the photographs here it is the broken reel shown inside the white polystyrene box that you'd be receiving although we may add some additional extra tape that has fallen on the floor as that too could be useful.
